Reflexology Treatment, Aftercare and History

What To Expect From A reflexology Treatment

A treatment will last approximately one hour, potential longer on your first visit. On arrival you will be asked to fill out a couple of forms about your lifestyle and notify me of any medical conditions. You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks and lie on the bed. During the treatment I will do a small relaxation session followed by a foot massage and will then start the reflexology. This consists of pressure being applied to the sole of your foot by my thumbs or fingers. The treatment will only be on your feet and up to your ankle. If for any reason I cannot perform reflexology on your feet, I can treat your hands.

After Care

After your treatment we recommend you drink plenty of water or squash and have a restful day. We recommend you cut down on caffeine, nicotine and alcohol. This will allow your body to heal and flush out any toxins released during the treatment.

A Brief Introduction To The History Of Reflexology

The practice of reflexology is evident through history during different ages and cultures. The earliest records have been found in Egypt in picture form drawn on the walls of a tomb. The tomb belonged to a highly respected physician. Reflexology was also practiced in ancient India and it is said that the Buddhist monks who travelled to China took the techniques with them before moving on to Japan spreading the techniques.

Reflexology was practiced in the United States in the early 20th century by Dr Fitzgerald who practiced medicine in Boston, London and Vienna.
